John Mellencamp to rock Fayetteville's Crown Theatre
Award-winning singer/songwriter and '80s heartland rocker John Mellencamp is making a stop in Fayetteville for a one-night-only performance at the downtown Crown Theatre in April.
Mellencamp rose to early fame as John Cougar with hits that still hit like “Jack & Diane,” “Small Town,” “Rain on a Scarecrow,” “Cherry Bomb” and “Hurts so Good."
His April 17 Fayetteville appearance is part of his Live and In Person 2024 Tour which will rock 27 cities, with two in the Tarheel state. Mellencamp is playing Greensboro on April 14.
A limited number of exclusive VIP packages are available for purchase starting Tuesday at 10 a.m., according to a news release. The VIP package includes a selection of reserved seated tickets, autographed memorabilia and special merchandise among other perks, the release said.
Regular tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday.
The tour begins March 8 in Rochester, New York, and wraps April 22 in Savannah, Georgia, and celebrates Mellencamp’s most recent and 25th studio album, "Orpheus Descending," released to widespread critical acclaim in June on Republic Records, the release said.
Among Mellencamp’s, lifetime achievements, the 71-year-old is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award, The Woody Guthrie Award and the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Founders Award.
