Two killed in separate Fayetteville motorcycle crashes Friday
Two people were killed in separate motorcycle crashes on Friday, the Fayetteville Police Department said.
The first crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. on McArthur Road when a white SUV making a left turn onto Francam Drive struck a motorcycle, according to a news release. The motorcycle driver and passenger were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition, where the passenger, 64-year-old Evelyn Coward, later died, the release said. The identities of the motorcycle and SUV drivers were not released.
Eight hours later, a Fayetteville man was killed in the 2800 block of Raeford Road about 9 p.m.
Edgar Thomas, 52, was operating a 2007 Kawasaki ZX1400 motorcycle on Raeford Road when a 1997 Oldsmobile SUV turned into a parking lot near Ravenhill Drive and the motorcycle collided with the SUV, according to a news release. Thomas died at the hospital, the release said. The identity of the SUV driver was not released.
