Fayetteville motorcyclist dies following accident last weekend on Cliffdale Road

A Fayetteville motorcyclist died Sunday a day after an accident on Cliffdale Road, the Fayetteville Police Department said.

According to police, Darryl Porter, 30, was southbound on a Suzuki motorcycle when a Nissan Maxima driven by Sharon Gibson, 54, of Laurinburg, crossed into Porter's path as she made a left turn onto Cliffdale from Scottsdale Road. The accident happened about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Porter was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, then flown to a UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill where he died of his injuries, police said.

The release said speed played a factor in the crash.
