Freedom Christian softball junior takes home 910Preps Athlete of the Week; March 11-15

A total of 545 votes were recorded in this week's 910Preps Athlete of the Week ballot. Freedom Christian's junior pitcher Victoria Bryant will take the March 11-15 honors with 78.7% (429) votes. Bryant had a successful outing in the circle for the Patriots in their 6-1 win over Cape Fear Christian with nine strikeouts in seven innings pitched with only one run allowed.

Coaches and athletic directors can nominate a player for athlete of the week by sending nominations to jfmoore@gannett.com or @ogcookie_ on X/Twitter by noon Sunday. Include the player's name, year in school, accomplishments for the week and a head shot.
Here are the remaining five nominees from this weeks ballot along with their accomplishments.
Ethan Cobb, Cape Fear - Cobb was dominant in the batter's box in the Colts 37-0 win over Douglas Byrd. The junior outfielder was perfect in his at-bats and tallied five scored runs, three total hits, and four RBIs.
Amari Estell, Gray's Creek -The Bears senior pitcher tossed a no-hitter during their 16-0 win over Douglas Byrd. Estell totaled one hit, two RBIs, and pitched a shutout with nine strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Jacquez Foster, Seventy-First- Foster was the key component to the Falcons 3A East regional win against Westover. The junior guard put up 25 points and made five 3-pointers in the win to head to the 3A championship game.
Ethan Plesser, Cape Fear - Plesser was outstanding for the Colts in their 2-0 win over Midway. The lefty pitched a shutout and allowed only one hit in seven innings along with 16 strikeouts.
Breonna Roaf, Terry Sanford - The junior point guard was stellar in the Bulldogs 3A East Championship game to defeat top-seeded South Central. Roaf posted 13 points and 13 rebounds to push the Bulldogs to the 3A East State Championship game.
