Janet Kohlhage Gardner, 74, passed gracefully on March 9, 2024, with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Liz; son, Charlie; daughter-in-law, Lyndsey; granddaughter, Emaline; grandson, Ellison; and a wide circle of loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Louise Honeycutt Kohlhage.
Janet was born in Georgia, lived briefly in Germany as a child, grew up in Salemburg, and made her home in Hope Mills. She graduated from Roseboro-Salemburg High School, and she earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Campbell University and a master’s degree in library science from NC Central University. She served as Media Coordinator for South View High School for 15 years and was a former President of the Friends of the Hope Mills Library.
Beyond her professional achievements, Janet found joy in the simple pleasures of life - organizing family gatherings, visiting small towns with her husband, and singing with her grandchildren. She loved generously and warmly and was loved by many.
A service to honor and celebrate Janet's life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. Committal will take place at Hope Mills Cemetery.
The family extends their gratitude for the love and support received during this time.
